Discovered as a chance hybrid in a Maryland garden around 1900, the 'Nellie R. Stevens' Holly has become the gold standard for creating instant, evergreen privacy screens. It grows rapidly into a dense, dark green pyramidal wall that shrugs off heat, drought, and neglect without breaking a sweat. Unlike many other hollies, this unique variety is self-fertile, meaning it will completely load its branches with a spectacular crop of festive red winter berries even without a male pollinator nearby.
